Braise Tofu with Tomato and Leek


Making tofu or beancurd is a family business of my hubby. They have all types of soya bean made products. Products are yellow tofu, plain tofu, tofu block, tofu puff and etc.....haha all are tofu, tofu, tofu and tofu...^^
Tofu contains lots of nutrients, especially protein. There are lots of way to cook tofu and my kids and hubby like it this way. That is..........


Braise Tofu with Tomato and Leek

Ingredients:

5-6 pcs tofu~sprinkle some salt to seasoning the tofu
3 sprig china leek~slice
5 tomatoes~wedge
1 tsp garlic ~ chopped
1 1/2 cup cooking oil
2 tbsp mince pork~ seasoning with a dash of light soya sauce
1 cup water
1 1/2 tsp corn flour ~ dilute in some water

Method:

1) Cut the tofu into 4 pieces eaches. Deep fry with some oil until it is light golden brown.
Do not over fried the tofu or it will be hard and dry. Instead of soft and moist inside.

2) Saute garlic until fragrant, add in minced pork stir well, add in leek and tomato,
add in a few dashes of light soya sauce and stir fry again with high flame
until it is half cook.

3) Pour in a cup of water, add in the fried tofu and simmer until tomatoes is soften
and the water have reduced. Add in the corn starch to thicken the sauce.

4) Lastly, dish up and serve hot.

Shark Fin Dumpling ~鱼翅饺

This Shark Fin Dumpling (yu chi gow), is one of my favorite dumpling. Although it is named Shark Fin Dumpling, but they contain no actual shark fin in it. Some say the look and shape of the dumpling does look like shark fin and other do include in imitation shark fin, though. I am lucky to have spotted this long hibernating in the book shelf chinese dim sum book ‘香港地道小吃’ translated as 'Hong Kong Authentic Tapas' Well, Do, you find this look like Shark's Fin?? 看看形状像不像鱼翅呢??  Filling for the ingredients are prawn, mince meat, carrot, yam bean and black fungus. Steam Lapis Bumi Cake ~ 蒸咖啡千层蛋糕

This little rose cake you see here is the last tablespoon batter of my steamed coffee layer cake. After i finished steaming the layer cake there is still some batter left but no enough to cover the cake so i took a silicone rose mould and make it into this..:D This is a very rush steamed coffee layer cake. It is also named Steam Lapis Bumi Cake. I am crazy to make this 3 hours ago..:p but i wanted to share this because this cake is simply really delicious.
