Haha..I saw this spiderman buns in a bakery magazine in a bookstore. I found it very interesting. I decided to do them for Shawn and Sam for a surprise.
Ingredients for the dough:
250ml cold water
50g whip cream
7 tbsp castor sugar
1/2 tsp salt
500g bread flour
2 tbsp milk powder
40g butter
2 tsp instant yeast
Method:
1) Again I use Noxxa Bread maker to make my dough. Put all the ingredients into the bread pan. First add in wet ingredients, then dry ingredients.
2) Press mode 11, this mode included mix, knead and first proof of dough.
3) When the dough is ready just take it out from the bread pan and divide into 30g each round doughs. You will approximately have 30 buns.
4) Cover it and leave it for 10 minutes before wrapping in the filling.
5) You can wrap in any filling you like from red bean paste, cream cheese filling, peanut butter etc. For me I wrap in a buttermilk filling, my Shawn loves it.
6) After wrapping in the filling, place it on a greased baking tray. Leave it to rise for 40 to 45 minutes or double it size.
7) Preheat oven at 180c and bake it for 15 minutes. Brush the buns with egg and milk liquid before you bake it. Frost the buns after it is cool or else the chocolate will be melted.
For the spiderman frosting;
100g dark chocolate
100g white chocolate
Method:
1) Use double boil to melt the dark and white chocolate.
2) Filling in the both chocolate into a separated piping bags.
3) Start by dividing the bun into a upper half and a lower half. Start from the middle draw the spiderman eye first, it is like a triangle for both sides eye. Drawing outwards to the side of the buns and stop there. From the center of the buns draw 3 lines upwards and 3 lines downwards. Again 3 lines at both sides of the eyes. (When you are drawing refer to my photo, you will get what I am trying to explain...... (^^)4) Lastly, fill in the triangle (eyes area) with white chocolate.
