Mango Lassi - AFF Indian Sub-continent (印度乳酪)

This is a delicious and cooling beverage to beat the super HOT weather that we are having now. It is also mango season here so this is the most prefect beverage to have now. And and and it is super easy to prepare.

A  glass of thick and smooth mango lassi!!

There was a Deli cafe that we use to go here that makes nice lassi. Plain lassi was RM4 and mango lassi was RM5 back then but i don't know how much now.But now i know making my own will be so so so much tastier, fresh and save quite a bit ..lol

Homemade Mango Lassi that is thick, smooth and fresh.

Preparing this delicious beverage is so easy. All you need is some fresh mango, yogurt, milk or water, honey or sugar and some spices like caradomon and saffron (optional). Add this into a blender or a liquidazier and blizt away, DONE! You can now enjoy a glass of delicious Mango Lassi

Mango Lassi ..
recipe adapted from the book of 30 minutes Indian by Sunil Vijayakar
i make 2/3 portion of this recipe with my modification in purple

Ingredients:
3 ripe fresh mangoes, peeled and stone
and roughly chopped or 300ml/1/2 pint canned mango pulp
(i used 2 ripe fresh mangoes about 1 cup (250 ml measuring cup) mangoes after peeled, stone and chopped into cubes)
500 ml/17 fl oz natural yogurt
(i used 1 tub marigold brand low fat yogurt about 135ml)
250 ml/8 fl oz water
(i used 100 ml fresh milk)
1-2 tablespoon caster sugar
(i used 1/2 teaspoon caster sugar, as i found that my mangoes are quite sugar itself)
some ice cubes (i added)

To Do:
  1. Put the fresh mango, if using into a food processor or blender and blend until smooth. Set aside.
  2. Blend the yogurt, water and sugar until smooth. Divide the mango pulp between 4 tall glasses and pour over the yogurt mixture. Serve chilled.
** Mine, in a blender, puree mangoes cubes and sugar until smooth. Add in chilled yogurt, milk and ice cubes continue blend for few seconds until everything is combine well and smooth. Pour Mango Lassi into glasses, serve with garnished mint leaves and
ENJOY!!

  2. Hi Doreen,

I realise many bloggers have made mango lassi this month for LTU milk and AFF Indian. Timely, the mangoes seem to be the best for all of you at the northern hemisphere... Sadly, all we do here in Australia is drooling at these juicy mangoes :p

Shark Fin Dumpling ~

This Shark Fin Dumpling (yu chi gow), is one of my favorite dumpling. Although it is named Shark Fin Dumpling, but they contain no actual shark fin in it. Some say the look and shape of the dumpling does look like shark fin and other do include in imitation shark fin, though. I am lucky to have spotted this long hibernating in the book shelf chinese dim sum book ‘香港地道小吃’ translated as 'Hong Kong Authentic Tapas' Well, Do, you find this look like Shark's Fin?? Filling for the ingredients are prawn, mince meat, carrot, yam bean and black fungus. Get ready the filling and the wanton wrappers. This is the parade of my Shark's Fin dumpling ... lol Homemade parchment paper liner. Arrange them neatly into the bamboo steamer. HOT! HOT! Thanks to Bake Along hosts Lena , Joyce and Zoe for having this Marble Butter cake as this month theme. Thanks again to Jeannie for sharing her marble cake recipe and thanks again to Wendy for her mrs ngsks butter cake. Alright!! stop thanking now..lol This marble butter cake recipe is a keeper. The cake is moist, soft with fine texture. My fil (father in law) loves butter cake very much.  He loves the butter aroma and  he said its filling and not like cotton soft cake has no texture like butter cake and it is too soft and too spongy :p :p It has got a almost flat top :D The side are nice straight and flat. Can't wait to taste the cake. I slice the cake when it is still warm. This is the first slice, first bi
