Kek Lapis Cheese~..芝士千层蛋糕..来了~~

Cake lapis is a very special and delicate kind of cake. Originally this cake is from Sarawak, just like Indonesia kek lapis is originally from Indonesia. Now you can see this cake lapis all over Malaysia. Some are homemade and some are from bakery. I...prefer a DIY.....Of course, a homemade one.

A friend of mine sold a Sharp double grill, convection and mircowave oven from our company to a Malay friend. This Malay friend wanted to use this new oven to make Lapis cake.

Cheese Lapis Cake


This Sharp mircowave oven really works, using this oven to do Layer cake is really easy and good. The rotating turntable gives the cake a balance browning and the top grill function gives the cake a browning at the top, cook well and will not makes the cake too dry. The cake stays moisture and not dry.
Kek Lapis Cheese Sarawak~~Sarawak Cheese Layer Cake
Ingredients (A):
25 egg yolks
5 egg whites
230g castor sugar(I only used 180g)
100g Hong Kong flour
1 tbsp ovalette

砂洲芝士千层蛋糕
A 材料:
25 蛋黄
5 蛋白
230克 幼糖(我用180克)
100克 香港粉
1 大匙 黄油 (乳化剂)



Ingredients (B):

400g butter
140g cream cheese
3 tbsp condense milk
3 tbsp golden syrup
1 tsp salt


B 材料
400克 奶油
140克 乳酪奶油
3 大匙 甜牛奶(泡咖啡用的那种)
3 大匙 金糖浆
1 小匙盐

Method: 做:法
1) Beat ingredients (A) until light and fluffy.
把(A)料打至松法. 备用.

2) In another bowl beat (B) until pale and fluffy.
在另一个搅拌盆,把(B)料打至白和松法,像打全蛋海绵蛋糕那样...^^

3) Mix A and B together until well combine.
把A加入B, 拌均匀.

4) Prepare a 8 1/2" x 8 1/2" baking tin and lined with parchment paper at the bottom.
把一个8 1/2" x 8 1/2" 的方形的烤盘, 放上一层牛油纸在底部.

5) Preheated the oven with top and bottom grill for 5 minutes.
预热烤炉(200c)上下火, 5分钟.

6) Put 5 tbsp of mixture into the baking tin, smooth out and use top grill function in the oven for 4-5 minutes to brown and cooked it.
放5大匙匙面糊进烤盘,铺平,再用上火烤5分钟或金黄色. 取出, 按平.

7) When the 1st layer is cooked. Again put in 5 tbsp of mixture onto the 1st cooked layer and top grill for 4-5 minutes.
第一层烤好, 再倒入5大匙面糊在第一层上,铺平在用上火烤4-5分钟.

8) Repeat step 6-7 until all the mixture are used up. Cool the cake before cutting.
重负, 以上的步骤至到面糊用完. 做好了蛋糕, 必须待冷才切.

**This layer cake is nice, soft and moist with light scent of cheese cream... it is really nice.

  1. Hi, love your cheese lapis, may i know what type of microwave oven did you use to bake. I am in the midst of looking into one that has grill. What brand are you using. I came across LG. tHANKS LAURENA.

Shark Fin Dumpling ~鱼翅饺

This Shark Fin Dumpling (yu chi gow), is one of my favorite dumpling. Although it is named Shark Fin Dumpling, but they contain no actual shark fin in it. Some say the look and shape of the dumpling does look like shark fin and other do include in imitation shark fin, though. I am lucky to have spotted this long hibernating in the book shelf chinese dim sum book ‘香港地道小吃’ translated as 'Hong Kong Authentic Tapas' Well, Do, you find this look like Shark's Fin?? 看看形状像不像鱼翅呢??  Filling for the ingredients are prawn, mince meat, carrot, yam bean and black fungus.
